Our Mission

Planet

At KIVARI we see sustainability as an opportunity, not a challenge. It’s our chance to build a brighter future and inspire our community to do the same. We strive to consciously create beautiful pieces, seeking out the best alternatives to balance our operations with mother nature. Our commitment to you is that we’ll always be honest about our journey, from our design process and the materials we use, to our supply chain and packaging. We will continually drive our progress forward towards sustainability, circularity, inclusivity & transparency.

OUR PARTNERS

KIVARI SUPPLY CHAIN

KIVARI’s investment in a cleaner, brighter future begins with our supply chain. Our commitment to mother earth is that each of our processes - from the first stitch until our piece finds a loving home in your wardrobe - is as responsible as possible. To do this, we’re choosing to work with the most energy efficient production processes available to us—from our choice of freight right through to fabrications. Transparency is so important to us at KIVARI, to see how our garments are made and where, check our Meet The Makers page.

Freight

It is the small changes that equal a big impact, which is why we’re making a conscious effort to consolidate our shipments to ensure we’re sending more of our treasured garments, fewer times a year. A big shift for us happened in 2021 as we moved our transportation mode from Air freight towards Sea freight, which massively reduced the output of carbon emissions. To put that into context, if two tonnes of freight were transported 5000km, sea freight would emit 191% less CO2e than if it was sent via air.

Fabrications

At the heart of KIVARI’s craftsmanship is a mission to use the most durable, breathable and natural materials across our collections—such as linen and cotton. As KIVARI has grown, we’re constantly working with our suppliers and global community to explore new fabrics and sustainable practices to further our ethical journey and lessen our carbon footprint.

LENZINGTM

In an effort to move away from rayon and viscose, we’re switching future collections to LENZINGTM fibers. LENZINGTM are committed to the ethical sourcing of their wood and reforestation for forests used for rayon. Their fibers come with a forest certification, and only use sustainably harvested beech trees that are quick growing and regenerative. Not only this, but LENZINGTM are global leaders in environmental standards due to their use of environmentally friendly energy sources, the extensive use of waste heat and the complete treatment and purification of all waste water.
For more information about LENZINGTM, head here.

ECONYL®

As Kivari organically evolved into designing and producing swimwear, it was a no-brainer to work with ECONYL®, a company producing regenerative and recycled nylon. ECONYL® regenerated nylon is made from waste and items that would otherwise end up in landfill or pollute the ocean, such as fishing nets and fabric scraps. But perhaps most importantly, ECONYL® is infinitely recyclable and opens up a multitude of possibilities for sustainable fashion.

Thread Together

In line with our commitment to becoming a circular business we have partnered with Thread Together to give every piece of clothing a purpose.

Founded in 2012, Thread Together was born from the simple idea to donate rather than dispose of unsold clothing - with the hope to help people in need, whilst also protecting the environment from excess landfill. First partnering with Thread Together in early 2021, we are committed to supporting their sustainable solution for fashion excess by donating sample designs and end-of-line stock to those in the community who need it most. We have since donated nearly $90,000 worth of clothing and products.

For us, this is just the beginning of our long-standing partnership as we work towards a world of circularity.
