Design Assistant

Officially founded in 2014 KIVARI was created from a passion of adventurous travel and connections the oceans. 

Known for its distinctive aesthetic of effortless and versatile silhouettes. Utilising natural fibres and alternative manufacturing methods to balance our operations with mother nature.

Today, KIVARI has 8 boutiques across Australia, Noosa Heads, Byron Bay, Freshwater, Miranda, Bondi, Burleigh Heads, Pacific Fair and Mosman. We run two successful online websites and an impressive list of luxury doors, around the globe.  

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Design Assistant to join our team on our amazing journey based in our head office in Freshwater. You must love fashion have a finger on the pulse of market trends and an understanding of the Kivari aesthetic and our customer.   

As a Design Assistant at Kivari, you will play a crucial role in managing the administrative aspects of the design process, supporting the design team in realizing seasonal collections that align with brand DNA, and strategic direction.  

Responsibilities:

  • Create and update CADs using Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, assisting with technical sketches when necessary.

  • Source and oversee fabric and trim submissions with factories, maintaining organized filing systems.

  • Uphold a meticulous approach to all design tasks, conduct thorough quality checks.

  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions providing creative input.

  • Develop and manage the design tracker always ensuring data integrity

  • Collaborate with the Merchandise Team to handle fabric inquiries and trim developments

  • Assist the design team in tech pack setup and vendor handovers. 

  • Execute specific design briefs by researching, preparing boards, and arranging samples for reviews.

  • Communicate detailed product information to the online team for copywriting.

  • Assist with recolouring print artwork, adapting original artwork as needed in Photoshop/Illustrator. 

  • Complete design administrative tasks in accordance with the business-critical path and all deadlines

 

To be our perfect candidates, you will:

  • Certification from a recognised Fashion Design institution 

  • Prior internship experience in a fashion design business. 

  • Preferred previous industry experience is preferred but not essential 

  • Portfolio showcasing a style aligned with the Kivari aesthetic. 

  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Competent in Adobe Creative Suite. 

  • Have a high attention to detail

  • Genuine interest in trends and fashion brands.

  • Proficient in CADs, compiling line-sheets, and designing simple print artwork.

  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
