This week, our girl Holly from Kivari HQ shared with us her top tips for reducing single use plastic around the home and workplace. Every little bit counts when it comes to reducing our environmental impact, here’s what Holly suggested!

Holly wears the Latte Polka Mini

Keep Cup

Keep cups are such a favourite of mine because they are low-cost and can be easily implemented into your daily routine. My absolute favourite Keep Cups are from Pottery for the Planet.

Biodegradable Coffee Pods and Loose Leaf Tea

Having a coffee or tea is an everyday must for me. Biodegradable coffee pods break down at roughly the same rate as an orange peel. As for loose leaf tea, this has minimal plastic packaging and can be placed straight into your compost heap! Be sure to remove the aluminium lid of the coffee pod before you put it in the compost bin. My favourite is from Republica Organic - endless tea combinations and jars/flasks to keep them in.

Safety Razor

This is my lifetime razor, no replacements necessary. It is made of stainless steel which means it is absolutely recyclable if it were to ever break. You can get plus so much more at Flora and Fauna.

Another favourite is my compost bin, I use this daily. It is an inexpensive purchase that reduces waste, toxins and overall pollution.

Another few of Holly’s everyday hacks include:

Reusable shopping bags
Bamboo toothbrush
Face pads to gently remove makeup
Using a soap bar
BYO Cutlery
Glass jars for smoothies and lunches
We hope Holly has given you some ideas to start your journey towards reducing single-use plastic. Feel free to let us know if you have any more tips x
